Sending Money with UpSend

How to Send Money

You can send money to MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money wallets instantly:

  1. Open the UpSend app and log in
  2. Tap "Send Money" on the home screen
  3. Select the network (MTN or Airtel)
  4. Enter the recipient's phone number
  5. Enter the amount you want to send
  6. Add a note (optional)
  7. Review the transaction details and fees
  8. Enter your PIN to confirm
  9. Wait for the confirmation message

Transaction Limits

Transaction limits depend on your account verification level:

  • Basic Account: UGX 500,000 per transaction, UGX 2,000,000 daily
  • Verified Account: UGX 2,000,000 per transaction, UGX 10,000,000 daily

Transaction Fees

UpSend charges competitive fees for money transfers:

  • UGX 1,000 - UGX 50,000: 1% fee
  • UGX 50,001 - UGX 200,000: 0.8% fee
  • UGX 200,001 - UGX 1,000,000: 0.5% fee
  • Above UGX 1,000,000: 0.3% fee

Failed Transactions

If a transaction fails, the amount will be refunded to your UpSend wallet within 24 hours. Common reasons for failed transactions include:

  • Incorrect phone number
  • Recipient's wallet inactive
  • Insufficient funds
  • Network issues
